About Loadfile

Loadfile is an independent guide to files. We help you make sense of any format, pick the right tool to work with it, find legal sources for the content you need, and avoid harming your data along the way. In short: everything to do with files, in one clear place.

Why we do this

Search results for queries like "how to open a .xyz file" have long turned into a dump. Dozens of sites copy the same text from one another, plaster it with ads and "Download" buttons that often hide adware, forced browser extensions, or outright malware. A user who simply wanted to open a document risks ending up with an infected computer instead of a solution.

We build Loadfile because we believe working with files shouldn't be a lottery. People deserve a direct, honest answer to a simple question — with no hoops to jump through and no risk. Our mission is to become the guide that people open first and trust.

Working with files shouldn't be a lottery.

Our principles

We work by a few rules we never bend.

Legal solutions only

We never publish links to pirated software, "cracks," warez, or repacks of dubious origin. We try to solve every task by lawful means — it's safer for your data and devices, and more reliable in the long run.

Tested on our own devices

Before we recommend anything, we try it ourselves — on real Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. If a program installs adware, requests suspicious permissions, or simply can't handle large files, we say so honestly.

No hidden advertising

We don't pass off paid reviews as objective ones. If a piece contains an affiliate link or discusses a paid product, you can see it right there in the text.

Security by default

In every guide we keep the risks in mind: we warn about suspicious sources, explain how to check a file before opening it, and never advise turning off protection for the sake of dubious convenience.

How we produce our materials

  1. The task. First we identify the reader's real task — not "what is format X," but "what the person actually wants to do with it."
  2. Testing. Then we select and test ways to solve it on current versions of operating systems and programs.
  3. Documenting. We record what worked, what didn't, where the pitfalls are, how much the paid version costs, and whether there's a free alternative.
  4. Writing and updating. Only then does the text appear — with clear steps, screenshots, and honest caveats. We review our materials regularly so the guide stays current.

Every article goes through the same path. First we identify the reader's real task — not "what is format X," but "what the person actually wants to do with it." Then we select and test ways to solve it on current versions of operating systems and programs. We record what worked, what didn't, where the pitfalls are, how much the paid version costs, and whether there's a free alternative. Only then does the text appear — with clear steps, screenshots, and honest caveats. We review our materials regularly: programs get updated, links go stale, new tools appear, and the guide has to stay current.

Who works on this

The Loadfile editorial team

Loadfile is made by an editorial team of practicing developers and system administrators. These are people for whom files, formats, conversion, and data security questions are part of their daily work, not an abstract topic. We deliberately don't turn the site into a faceless content factory: behind every breakdown stands real experience, not a retelling of ten other people's articles.

Disclaimer

Loadfile is informational and reference in nature. We strive for accuracy and verify our materials, but technology changes fast, so we cannot guarantee that any given solution will work in your specific case. Mentioning a program or service is not advertising and does not mean we are responsible for how it works — you use all products at your own risk, under their developers' terms. The names of programs, formats, and trademarks belong to their respective owners. If you spot an inaccuracy or outdated information — write to us, we're grateful for your feedback.
